Infrastructure update: Tracking Municipal repairs as 2025 kicks off

A well-maintained and fully operational infrastructure is key to ensuring safety and efficiency within the Cornubia Industrial and Business Estate (CIBE). As we step into 2025, eThekwini Municipality’s Electrical Department continues to work on streetlight repairs across the precinct.

Slow Progress in Streetlight Repairs

Currently, 64% of precinct streetlights are operational, with ongoing repair work taking place along Syringa, Belladonna, and Tottum Roads. While we have not yet seen significant improvements in lighting, we continue to follow up with municipal teams to push for further progress.

Regular Monitoring to Track Improvements

To ensure that streetlight functionality continues to improve, our teams conduct weekly audits across the precinct. These assessments help us track changes, identify ongoing problem areas, and escalate unresolved faults with the relevant municipal departments. We are hopeful that upcoming audits will reflect positive movement in the repair efforts.

Ongoing Engagement for Better Service Delivery

While progress remains slow, continued engagement with eThekwini Municipality is key to driving infrastructure improvements in the precinct. We remain committed to following up on outstanding repairs and will continue to advocate for better service delivery to ensure a well-lit and secure environment for businesses and property owners in CIBE.
