Over the past few weeks, our landscaping and cleaning crews followed the cutting team and focused on cleaning the precinct boundaries and other areas in the precinct where litter was piling up. The crew swept roads, recreated tree rings, and filled vacant spaces in the gardens with new plants. The team also focused their efforts on trimming sidewalks, herbicide application, street sweeping, cleaning, and clearing of stormwater inlets, and the relocation of trees that were planted too close to each other to areas that need them. The CIBEMA team did an extensive three-hour inspection of the precinct on foot last week, to identify more small, quick tasks that need attention and that will go a long way in keeping CIBE looking in top form. As we enter winter, we plan on tackling alien invasive plants in the precinct green zones.
A big thank you to DSW for delivering and installing 6 concrete bins on Syringa Road. These bins help curb the amount of litter thrown around the precinct, freeing time for our cleaning crew to focus on other improvement projects.
The past few weeks also saw some great news from eThekwiniβs Business Support, after a meeting with the local business forum agreed that the installation of a container should continue without any further stoppages.
Our CIBEMA security team also did great work with SAPS by providing footage and photos that assisted them in recovering stolen property within the precinct.
