eThekwini Municipalityβs recent efforts in the Cornubia Industrial and Business Estate (CIBE) are making a positive impact on infrastructure and security within the precinct. With several key projects underway, weβre seeing significant improvements that enhance both safety and functionality.
CCTV Expansion on JG Champion Road
A major project in progress is the CCTV expansion on JG Champion Road, a main entrance into the precinct where occasional incidents have highlighted the need for heightened security. eThekwini Municipality has started connecting power to the new camera kiosks along this route. Once powered, the remaining camera installations will be completed, providing critical surveillance coverage that will help deter incidents and improve security at this primary access point.
Streetlight Repairs and Maintenance
Streetlight functionality remains an essential focus for safety across CIBE. The Municipalityβs electrical department has been active on-site, addressing faults and removing 15 streetlight fittings for maintenance. This consistent attention to streetlight repairs is a welcome improvement after an extended period of minimal engagement, and we are optimistic that these repairs will enhance visibility and security throughout the precinct.
Sewer and Traffic Light Maintenance
In addition to the above projects, municipal teams also attended to a sewer overflow on Papilio Close, addressing an urgent issue to maintain sanitation standards within CIBE. Moreover, faulty traffic lights on Tottum Road were repaired, helping to ensure smooth traffic flow and road safety within the precinct.
These municipal efforts reflect a renewed commitment to supporting infrastructure within the Cornubia Industrial and Business Estate. We appreciate the progress being made by eThekwini Municipality and look forward to continued improvements in the months ahead.
