Infrastructure maintenance and service delivery remain a key focus in the Cornubia Industrial and Business Estate (CIBE). Throughout February, eThekwini Municipality and contractors have made steady progress in improving precinct infrastructure, particularly in streetlight repairs and stormwater management.
Streetlight Repairs See Steady Improvement
While progress on streetlight repairs has been slow, we have seen a notable improvement over the past month. The percentage of operational streetlights has increased from 66% to 72%, with ongoing efforts to push past the 80% mark by the end of March. Ensuring that the precinct is well-lit remains a priority, and we continue to follow up with eThekwini Municipality to drive further progress.
Relocating the Switch Pillar on Tottum Road
Another infrastructure project currently underway is the relocation of a switch pillar on Tottum Road. This forms part of efforts to improve electrical infrastructure within the precinct, ensuring long-term efficiency and reliability.
Stormwater Infrastructure Audit by BMK Group
In addition to electrical improvements, BMK Group has been conducting a full audit of stormwater infrastructure across CIBE. This assessment is crucial in identifying potential issues such as blockages, damage, or areas needing upgrades. With increased rainfall during this time of year, ensuring that stormwater systems function optimally is essential in preventing flooding and maintaining road safety.
The combined efforts of municipal teams and contractors play a vital role in keeping CIBE’s infrastructure in check.
