Renewal in Motion: Road Markings, Sidewalk Repairs and Streetlight Progress in January

Municipal Services

As 2026 gets underway, visible progress is being made in the Cornubia Industrial and Business Estate (CIBE) thanks to ongoing infrastructure support from the eThekwini Municipality and appointed contractors.

Fresh road markings improve precinct visibility

A contractor was deployed this month to update road markings throughout the precinct — an initiative that significantly improves both the visual impact and navigability of CIBE’s roadways. The refreshed markings enhance safety for both motorists and pedestrians and are part of the precinct’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of urban infrastructure.

Sidewalk upgrades on Tottum Road

Alongside the road upgrades, sidewalk repairs are underway on Tottum Road, led by eThekwini Municipality. These works will improve pedestrian safety and accessibility along this key route, especially as business activity continues to grow within the precinct.

70% streetlight functionality and rising

Streetlight maintenance remains a key priority. As of the end of January, 70% of CIBE’s streetlights are operational, with continued collaboration between our team and the Municipality aiming to raise this number to at least 90% ahead of winter. Proper streetlighting is critical to commuter safety and overall security, especially during the darker months.

Help us keep the precinct functioning smoothly

If you notice any municipal faults in the precinct — including water leaks, sewer issues, or faulty streetlights — please report them via our fault reporting platform so they can be logged and followed up.
