Streetlighting climbs to 85% functionality

Municipal Services

This past month saw incremental progress in municipal infrastructure maintenance, with streetlight functionality improving from 82% to 85% across the precinct. This improvement is a result of consistent follow-ups and escalations by the CIBEMA team, alongside on-site interventions by eThekwini Municipality’s Electrical Department.

Streetlight progress and municipal response

While we continue to aim for 100% functionality, the steady uptick reflects progress. Specific work completed this month includes:

  • Replacement of a damaged streetlight on Tottum Road, restoring lighting in a previously dark area.

  • Ongoing fault tracing and repair work across priority routes, which contributed to the improved functionality rate.

  • Replacement of a damaged manhole cover on Belladonna Road by the Roads Department, improving both safety and functionality of municipal infrastructure.

As always, we continue to log and escalate unresolved service issues to the relevant municipal departments, with a focus on achieving full streetlight functionality and reducing infrastructure-related risks within the precinct.
